The bacteria on seeded media are alive — treat it more like a live arrival than a dry good.
A light rinse in tank or dechlorinated water to knock off loose sediment — never chlorinated tap water.
Drop it into your filter, sump, or media basket as soon as possible after it arrives.
Don't let it dry out before adding it — drying kills the bacterial colony you're paying for.
Seeded media gives you a head start, not a guarantee — keep testing ammonia and nitrite until you're cycled.
